NYRR LIVE BEGINS 11 A.M.

New York Road Runners will once again present its innovative web-based show NYRR Live, hosted by me and former London Times Olympic writer David Powell. Join us Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. – noon (EDT) as we count down to Sunday’s 42nd ING New York City Marathon.  The show will feature interviews with athletes, celebrities, and special guests; analysis and commentary on the day’s news; and guest journalists, including Universal Sports Assistant Managing Editor Joe Battaglia on Tuesday.  Plus, there are sure to be engaging discussions of some of the sport’s hottest topics. The show will be broadcast live from the Timex Media Center, and can be seen (free) live onwww.tv.nyrr.org and on demand atUniversalSports.com.

Hope you enjoy the show. New Zealand’s  Kim Smith will be our athlete guest today.  We’ll ask how she has overcome her disappointment in Boston this spring where, after leading the legendary marathon by nearly one minute at half-way she dropped out on Heartbreak Hill at 20 miles with a calf injury.  Kim ran the fastest half-marathon ever on U.S. soil last month in September at the RnR Half in her final NYC tuneup. Her 1:07:11 time bested her former record, 1:07:36, run in February at RnR New Orleans.  Kim is coached by her Providence College coach Ray Treacy.
